But you know what's amazing? Everywhere I go, I see very much the same thing. I see the same compassion for people who live half a world away. I see the same concern about events beyond these borders. And, increasingly, I see the same conviction that we can and we must join together to stop the scourge of AIDS and poverty – Bono (U2)

An Urgent Response to AIDS

Unless something changes over 200 million men, women and children will die because of AIDS. Already more than half a billion people have lost a friend or relative  – 40 million adults and children died of AIDS and were buried or cremated by the start of 2002.

It’s not only the diseased who are affected by AIDS, everyone around them and the community they live in is, too .

This new epidemic is spreading faster than ever among the poorest nations, killing four times more people every year as it was a decade ago. AIDS is a silent killer ending the lives of more people than many wars together. 

We must and we can act against it. Even as individuals we can raise our voices and actively fight this disease. By joining forces in a campaign like ‘ Act Positive’ and the other campaigns against HIV/AIDS, we can fight the disease.
